Das Geschäft ist schnell erklärt. Bitpanda betreibt eine Handelsplattform für digitale Vermögenswerte. Neben rund 390 Kryptowährungen kann man dort auch Edelmetalle, Aktien und ETFs handeln, dazu kommt eine eigene Visa-Debitkarte. Der Hauptsitz liegt in der Leopoldstadt in Wien, hier arbeitet auch das größte Team. In Berlin, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Mailand und Bukarest sitzen weitere Büros. Insgesamt gehören über 700 Menschen zur Belegschaft. Bitpanda war 2021 das erste österreichische Start-up, das mit über einer Milliarde Euro bewertet wurde. 2025 kam die EU-weite MiCA-Lizenz dazu, die zentrale Zulassung für Krypto-Dienstleister in Europa, ergänzt um Lizenzen in Großbritannien und den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten. Für das Geschäftsjahr 2025 weist das Unternehmen rund 371 Millionen Euro bereinigten Umsatz aus, ein Plus von 16 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr (The Block, März 2026). Wer hier anfängt, arbeitet an einem regulierten Finanzprodukt mit echten Kundengeldern. Gefragt sind dabei längst nicht nur Entwicklerinnen und Entwickler. In den Teams sitzen genauso Compliance-Fachleute, die die neuen EU-Regeln in den Alltag übersetzen, Produktmanager und Leute aus Kundenservice und Marketing. Das Unternehmen beschreibt seine Belegschaft als international zusammengesetzt und bietet neuen Mitarbeitenden ein Onboarding-Programm samt Umzugsunterstützung.
